One hundred of these birds were introduced in Central Park, NY between 1890 and 1891.  They were released by the American Acclimatization Society who believed every bird mentioned by Shakespeare should be present in America.  Currently their population has grown to well over 200 million in the North and South American Continents.  They are known to congregate in flocks, or Moots, of a million or more.  This gathering is called a Murmuration.

The Starling inspires unity this world and the next, teaching us the importance of communication and respect for others.  The Starling reminds us to be expressive while remaining sensitive in our conduct.

I had never seen a Starling up close before I found this one. I do not know how she died, or where the rest of the flock was, but I couldn't just leave her unnoticed.  I wanted to pay tribute and allow her energy to live on cyanotype paper.
